Radiation Safety

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)

Course Overview

Ionising radiation is used safely every day in mining, medicine, NDT and industrial gauging — but only where people understand what they are working with. This course demystifies radiation for workers and supervisors: the physics in plain language, the real biological risks against the myths, and the practical protection framework of time, distance, shielding and contamination control. It aligns with international basic safety standards and national regulatory requirements.

What You Will Achieve

  • Explain types of ionising radiation and how each is detected and stopped
  • Distinguish real biological effects from common radiation myths
  • Apply time, distance and shielding to keep doses as low as reasonably achievable
  • Use dosimeters and survey meters correctly and interpret their readings
  • Respond correctly to spills, lost sources and other radiation incidents

Who Should Attend

Radiation workers, radiation protection officers, safety professionals, NDT technicians, and supervisors in mining, healthcare and industrial settings where sources or generators are used.

Advance Management of Environmental Service

Strong Advance Management of Environmental Service separates organisations that deliver from those that merely plan. Delegates spend the 5 days working real examples end to end, with the facilitator turning each exercise into transferable technique. Certificates are awarded on completion, but the real takeaway is a set of skills delegates have already practised.

Advanced Accident Investigation Reporting

The professionals trusted with bigger decisions tend to be the ones fluent in Accident Investigation Reporting. In 5 days of structured sessions, delegates test the tools against cases from their own industries and leave nothing untried. The final afternoon is spent turning the week's material into each delegate's own 90-day plan.
