International Trade Law

Contracts Management

Course Overview

Cross-border trade runs on a legal architecture most businesspeople only notice when something goes wrong: a shipment stuck in customs, a letter of credit refused, a dispute with a foreign supplier and no idea which court applies. This course gives commercial professionals a working knowledge of international trade law — Incoterms, carriage and insurance, payment instruments, sanctions and dispute resolution — with African trade corridors and AfCFTA developments woven throughout.

What You Will Achieve

  • Apply Incoterms 2020 correctly and understand exactly what risk passes where
  • Navigate the documents of international sale: bills of lading, insurance, certificates
  • Use letters of credit and documentary collections without fatal discrepancies
  • Understand WTO basics, regional agreements and what AfCFTA changes
  • Choose governing law, jurisdiction and arbitration clauses deliberately

Who Should Attend

Import/export managers, procurement and logistics professionals, bankers, in-house counsel and entrepreneurs trading across borders.

Contract Management is one of those disciplines everyone claims and few have actually been taught.
